What an amazing bloke! New Zealand Arborist is back climbing trees after losing his leg 6 months ago
Mitchell Joynt got his leg caught in a wood chipper when working in a remote location in May this year. His colleagues had to perform first aid on him and wait 90 minutes for the helicopter to take him to hospital. Now he's back at work and keener than ever to continue doing what he loves.
It is a reminder to us all in the industry to make safety our number one priority, no matter how confident or experienced we are. Statistics show that the majority of workplace accidents happen when the victim doesn't feel in danger.
I'm staggered at his laid back attitude to the loss of his leg, if it happened to me I would be stumped (excuse the pun). Kudos to him
